Bell and Bear
Bell and Bear is a story I thought up during inktober in 2020. It follows Bell, the world's youngest paranormal pet investigator - who helps the ghosts of pets say goodbye to their owners before passing to the pet afterlife.
In this first story following Bell’s adventures, she finds Bear - a lost pet who doesn’t remember who his owner was.
Every day during inktober I first sketched out ideas for each part of the story. .
I popped these sketches onto my iPad and created clean drawings that I could use with my light box.
Then I traced over each drawing and ink traditionally using pens and brushes.
This is a long process but one that allowed me to ink each illustration without mistakes. If I were to redo this project now, I would go straight to the page from the sketchbook, to keep more energy and looseness in the final illustrations.
